Unlike dentures crowns and bridges are cemented onto existing teeth or implants and can only be removed by a dentist.
A crown entirely covers a damaged tooth and is sometimes refereed to as a "cap". A crown will strengthen a damaged tooth and improve the appearance. We use Porcelain Crowns because they best mimic the color of natural teeth. A crown is usually recommended to replace a large filling, protect a weak tooth from fracturing, restore a fractured tooth, cover a dental implant, cover a discolored or poorly shaped tooth, and cover a root canal treated tooth.
Bridges are used to replace one or missing teeth. when there are gaps left between the teeth , the neighboring teeth tends to move in order to try and cover that gap resulting in bad occlusion. This imbalance in bite can lead to tempromandibular joint( TMJ ) problems as well.
